How Geothermal Energy Works
What
is geothermal energy?
-It is a way of harnessing the Earths
relatively constant temperature to heat and cool your home
|
|
|

In
the summer the GeoComfort heat pump takes the heat out of your home and
distributes it into the ground through the loop field warming the cold
ground
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
·
In
the winter this process is reversed and heat is then taken from the ground
back into the house to the heat pump so it can heat the house. This works well because in the winter the
ground is usually warmer than the air.
|
|
This makes geothermal energy very
efficient because it takes energy out of the Earth and if the ground is a
reasonably a constant temperature, that means that there will be no time
where the unit is running excessively, like a gas furnace in the winter
months.
